Of course you know Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros for the endlessly catchy 2009 “Home,” but that’s probably where it starts and ends. The 10-person-band’s new album Here was just released at the end of May, and honestly the reason it took me a while to get around to it was because I didn’t think there was much there for me.
Oh how I was wrong. The late ’60′s hippy-esque sound makes for a great walk to the train in the morning as it’s bubbly, folksy, and unlike any other album released in the past few years, but yes, Here can get a little repetitive listening to it all the way through.
While I love the album in its entirety, I also don’t suggest listening to it all at once; throw a couple of songs on a playlist with a little Peter, Paul & Mary, maybe some Simon & Garfunkel and you’ve got yourself a glorious morning.
Songs you absolutely must check out: “Man on Fire” and “That’s What’s Up“
